Cozumel All-Inclusive Week

A July 2001 trip to Cozumel by lance73

Quote: It was our honeymoon. We decided that since we are both scuba divers that Cozumel is the place to go. We were right! This place is great! Not a wave on the ocean, and plenty of sand between your toes. Coz. is a small island about 40 miles south of Cancun. There is plenty of night life, but not the crazines of Cancun. Taking the ferry ride to the mainland is a super day trip.

    Overview

    The diving, relaxing, nightlife, shopping.

    Quick Tips:

Use the taxis, and pay in pesos, the conversion rate is better at banks than at shops.

    Best Way To Get Around:

    Walking, taxis, and ferry boat.

The accomodations are All-Inclusive Resort type. This place is very nice, except the food gets "old" quickly. They serve the same things over, and over, and over. If we go to Coz again we'll stay in a Non-all-inclusive hotel in town. Paradisus is nice, but we went to town all time anyway and paid for dinner. However, if you don't want to worry with money exchange, stay here. The rooms are very up-to-date, the staff is willing to please, and the beach/pool are the best on the island. And, I have to admit that the food was better at night than during the day. We ate at the resort three of seven nights, it was much more diverse than the lunch meals.

This is one raunchy place after dark - not a kid friendly place. However, it's very fun if you are looking for a good time watching people drink themselves silly, or if your going to drink yourself silly. Great people watching. The food is almost edible, but I'd go elsewhere before you hit this joint. It's a chain in Mexico, if you've been to one you've been to them all.

    Conzumel Reefs

    Attraction

This is some of the most incredible diving I have ever seen! There are a lot of boats and divers, but with the right charter and some good crew you'll have a blast! Go with one of the smaller dive boats. Some of the dive shops try to take 20 people out at a time... that's way too many. I would use Aldora, they have smaller, faster boats and take less people. You will be on the reefs before the other folks and get more bottom time with the computer you can rent from them. The staff is very friendly and speak "good" english. Beware of people trying to "give" you a free dive for listening to a 90 min. demo. It's a scam.
