The service was truly beyond reproach, the staff were very nice and helpful. This being an all-inclusive, we weren't expecting the food to be too memorable. We were pleasantly surprised! There were different dishes each day and the restaurants were all diverse enough. The wait staff were quick and courteous. They were always quick to pull a chair for my wife, or to refill a drink. They also took great care to make certain the food was safe for my wife, since she suffers from Celia Disease and therefore cannot eat gluten. Since we were on vacation for our anniversary, they even prepared our room with a gluten-free anniversary cake and champagne when we got back from a day out. Very classy! The resort's decor was also nicer than I expected. It was luxurious but comfortable. There is a really nice infinity pool with a swim-up bar. There's also a pool-side restaurant, which the staff will serve to you as you sit by the pool. The room (we got an upgrade to an ocean-view suite) was beautiful with a comfortable bed and a two-person Jacuzzi. There was even a hammock on the balcony. The only negative part is that there is no real beach at this resort. You can swim in the sea, but you have get in from a dock. There are some sandy areas around with some lounge chairs, but it's not a" real" beach. The other small complaint we had was that they state that the Italian restaurant has a formal dress code, but they do not enforce it. It kinda cheapens the experience. Another negative part was at the very beginning of our stay. After being greeted at check-in with a cool, moist towelette and a nice, refreshing drink, we were directed to "Guest Services". Guest Services explained to us how we could use the 1500$ service credit included with our stay (more on that later), the activities we could enjoy, and most importantly (to them) the time-sharesque presentation we should not miss. After refusing a few times, we finally agreed to see the presentation mainly because we were tired after a day of travel and we could not seem to free ourselves of the representative without agreeing. Also, we got free transportation to the mainland (Playa del Carmen) via ferry as well as a free 1-day SUV rental in the deal. After sitting through a nearly 2-hour presentation and subsequent sales attempt, we got to visit the Playacar Palace. What's nice about the Palace resorts is that you can enjoy all the amenities of any of their resorts you visit, just without a room. The Playacar seemed just as nice as the Cozumel Palace, but was much bigger. It also had more selection in food, a bigger pool area, and an actual beach. But, since it accommodates more people, it was very difficult to find a spot in the shade at the pool or at the beach. Overall, I was happy we stayed in Cozumel as the service seemed more personalized. I don't know if this is a regular promotion, but we received up to 1500$ in credits for activities. This included: swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling, several local wildlife parks and historical sites, off-resort beaches, spa services, etc. Unfortunately, since my wife was pregnant, we were at several of these activities for liability reasons. We ended up using the credits for a room upgrade, spa services, and a park visit. Overall, it was probably the best vacation we'd ever had! Even better than our honeymoon. We highly recommend it.
