Weekend in Barcelona

An October 2004 trip to Barcelona by traveller22

This place is amazing! Right off of the Las Ramblas, it fills up quickly and there is often a line out the door and around the corner (get there a half hour before it opens, and watch the performers in the piazza). It is a tapas place, meaning it serves traditional small plated dinners to share. It may be the best meal I had in Spain, what a great place. The Ambiance is fabulous, with romantic mood lighting, and great decor.

I know... when in Spain? But truthfully we were tired of not eating American food, and needed a night of "normal" food. For those of you feeling the same way, and the place was packed so I'm assuming there are others out there, this is a great choice. We had not made reservations, but the bar was a great place to wait, and they had very creative drinks.

    Picasso Museum (Museu Picasso)

    Attraction | "Museu Picasso"

This museum is wonderful. While I myself am not an art fanatic, and we only spent and hour and a half in the whole thing, you could easily have spent several hours. Filled with much of his art, from his first drawings, to famous paintings. There is also tons of history and background on the famous painter and his family. The gift shop is a must-see for souvenirs.

Not having much time in Barcelona, and being all toured out, we chose to spend our time down by the waterfront walking, and sitting on the benches. They have wonderful statues and fountains, the views are amazing, and there are little markets and shops set up. A wonderful place to kill a few hours if you are too tired of tours and museums.

    Museu de l´Eròtica de Barcelona

    Attraction | "Museo de Erotica"

    Quote:
This is for adults only, and those in the mood for a laugh. Yes... it is a sex museum. I went with friends and the whole experience was worth the $5 entrance fee. The mood was set with the 7 foot phallic statue in the entryway, a great pick, and continued with historic porn (a silent movie), and the history of porn dating back to before Christ. Highly entertaining and worth it, but only if you're in the mood.
