After teaching a marvelous group of middle-schoolers in Miami (yeah kids, I'll never forget you!!) I began the long path towards my PhD at the University of Chicago. This is where the atomic bomb was first put into practice, as the place on Earth where the primates known by the scientific name Homo suicidus, err, Homo sapiens, first sustained a controlled (what a contradiction!!) atomic chain reaction - albeit on an extremely microscopic scale.
