Thanks to IgoUgo for many good years!

As I'm creeping into retirement I'm getting more activie again in photography and travel. So I've been thinking how much fun and how many good folks I've gotten to know via IgoUgo.com">IgoUgo.com</a>. Much appreciated! I've also learned from staff and other members how to do technical things that were a compelte mystery to me when I joined up as I didn't even own a digital camera in those ancient days.

I've enjoyed reading many journals and see a world of fine photography as well. My thanks to those who put so much time and effort into their work which they so kindly have shared.

And then there are the prizes back to the beginning when I traded IgoUgo points for an Eagle Creek suitcase and other travel kit to the thousands of American Airlines miles and much value in Amazon gift certificates.

As the past few years of my life have been very busy and often complicated, I still came to IgoUgo.com">IgoUgo.com</a> to post a photo now and then and to see the work of others. Now is the time for me to get up-to-date on modern photography and start sharing again. I'm looking forward to doing just that.

Whew. You gave me a fright there - just reading the title of your comment made me think, "She's leaving? She's not coming back?!" Not a pleasant thought, and I'm so glad to see I was mistaken. Am looking forward to reading more of your journals, and seeing more of your photos, samepenny!

Retirement is a golden time during which you can do what you missed to do because of work. I retired one year ago and since then, I have travelled to places I never dreamt I would have the chance to go. In addition, I have stayed there as long as I enjoyed, nothing to push me back to my country. You do not creep into retirement; you win retirement through living longer than others who simply pass away before retirement age.
Dear, I look forward to read your contributions as I did years back. IgoUgo is the best travel site on the web. What makes it so are contributors like you. Thanks for your excellent work.

Hooray! I too was slightly confused by the title of your post, @Samepenny. I'm looking forward to seeing your lovely photos and stories/getting to know you better!

Thank you ALL for being such sweet and loyal members of IgoUgo. While I may not be as "swift" as Terre was in reading/approving/mapping all of your stories, rest assured they do not go ignored and will be posted & used via social media and email! :-)

Thanks to all who replied. Sorry about the title, but I'm not departing. I've had too much fun with IgoUgo over the years now approaching decades.

Yes, retirement is an interesting state of mind as we wait so long to get to it and then suddenly (along with rafts of paperwork) it is reality. Senior discounts! Gosh aren't senior discounts fun? Well, they start at 50, 55 and 60 for some situations. Don't forget to ask for them. Don't be shy!

I've never been much of a technical wiz. Many members and staff of IgoUgo have helped me along the way. Sometimes I overlook the easier ways to get things done. I've never really bonded with my iPad original version. Perhaps I'm one of the few who feel this way. I thought it would be a weight saver for travel, but instead it has been a disappointment. It stores photos, but getting them moved around for use is another matter all together.

I am getting much use out of my new Kindle PaperWhite as I down load books and other sorts of travel materials to my Kindle and have everything with me all the time. I do mean everything as I have almost 100 books on it. Correct it is not in color like the Nook but it serves for me. Many of the ebooks I desire are either free or are cheap. I've pruchased many of the books that I also own in traditional form but are way to heavy for travel.

Where my Ipad is a stranger to me, I use my iPhone all the time. Checking in for flights is easy with e-boarding passes. I have appps that keep me up-to-date on flight schedules and gate changes often ahead of the airline's announcements. I have taken photos of travel docs to have copies handy. I also email stuff to myself to have back ups on that sort of stuff.

When I started out on IgoUgo (was in 1999? 2000?) I didn't have a clue about how much fun this all would turn out to be.

Keep writing and I'll keep reading. I promise!

Samepenny you were one of the first people who reached out to me when I was a newbie so many years ago. I'm so glad that you're back . . . and planning to become more active with IgoUgo again :)
