About Me: Through timeshare ownership, we are able to travel to some pretty wonderful places.
In May I had another Amtrak adventure, this time to S.California to visit my sister. We toured the Nixon and Reagan Presidential Libraries, as well as Joshua Tree Nat'l Park. It was a trip of "highlights" including the Hearst Castle, Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
This summer I have enjoyed exploring the Upper Midwest. In July I did a four day/three night tour of Door County (Wisconsin). I learned a lot about Wisconsin's maritime and fishing heritage and even caught an 18 lb. king salmon of my own! The following month, I headed further north to Michigan's Upper Peninsula for a three day/two night continuation of the nautical theme along the Great Lakes.
Later this year we have a fall timeshare vacation planned for the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania that will include David's mom. I am hoping that we will also have an opportunity to visit the Statue of Liberty while "in the area."
Just added (9/5/13) . . . I am planning a week-long exploration of San Antonio. Thanks to American Airlines and Amtrak, I'll be travelings round trip for $5! Another lap-of-luxury roomette for my return on the Texas Eagle thanks to my Amtrak MC. I have booked the timeshare for five nights and am ready to learn more about the Spanish missions, our 36th US President (LBJ) and whatever else there is to see and do during my limited time there.
Looking forward to 2014, initial planning has begun for another Great Alaskan RV Adventure. So far, I have the RV reserved with our friends in Fairbanks and have arranged for a 3 day/2 night fishing & sightseeing cruise out of Valdez aboard the SeaDuction with G'Day Charters. I am also hoping to put together a small group (6-8 people) trip to Lake Clark NP in Alaska as part of our RV adventure. I'm thinking 4 days/3 nights at the beginning or end of the RV Adventure, although this is proving to be a difficult challenge. We'll see if we can work Silver Salmon Creek Lodge into next year's adventure!
