I had been traveling to Ruidoso for three years before I tried the Texas club. One of the reasons is, I love to grill. Many neighbors and friends refer to the Texas Club with an allure, but it was lost on me. The food is tremendously overpriced. I also happen to think if you are going to serve instant mash potatoes as a side, you need to declare they are instant mashed potatoes. They have the coconut shrimp on their menu, you may have had these at Chain restaurant the Outback. Here they will cost twice as much and taste like soggy mush. And they are supposed to be famous for their steak. My steak tasted very, very gamey. You know that horrible taste you get in your mouth when it becomes all to real you are consuming something that was once living? I have eaten there three times. The first time I had a flat iron steak with a baked potato. Both were good, but hardly impressive. I ordered the tequilla chicken pasta one time and it was also good, but again, just good not great and completely overpriced. I've had better meals and much better service at the Cattle Baron. The wait staff was just blah.
