Horseshoe Valley Resort and Carriage Hills are the places to stay there. Each resort has an indoor pool and plenty of organized activities. The tube park sends you spinning down the hill while sitting on an inner tube. You are sure to scream full blast your first time trying it. They offer all kinds of classes to teach skiing and snowboarding.

When you buy a multi-pack, you return the skis every night, but if you buy a consecutive rental, you keep them and don't have to keep getting refitted. We bought the four-day lift pass and five-day ski rental pass, which gave us the option to take one day off.

Four times throughout the season the resort also offers a Moonlight Ski. If you are able to make it, it is not to be missed. A section of the trails are opened at night and are lit by lanterns. I went for the first time last year and was so impressed that I plan to return each year.

There are 22 trails on 61 acres of skiable terrain, with a vertical drop of 92 meters. If you are staying here for a few days, Mt. St. Louis Moonstone is close by and is a bit bigger. It has 36 trails on 165 acres of skiable terrain, with a vertical drop of 150 meters. Mt. St. Louis doesn't offer night skiing, while Horseshoe Valley does.

For the traveller that may want a little more than just winter activities, there is a full service casino about 20 minutes away, and close to the city of Barrie, you can catch movies, dinners, and other activites not located on the resort property.
The resort of Carriage Hills is a newer and very spacious resort with more amenities increasing every year. This village is only available to travellers to Carriage Hills, but they can also use the facilities of Horseshoe resort.
