Lovely as home is,
It isn't what Rome is
So why stay there...?
- 'Fabulous Places', Bobby Darin

About Me: I try to travel on a 'big' holiday once a year, alternating European & extra-European trips, plus one or two short city-breaks. I'm trying to tick off all the Unesco World Heritage Sites - gotta catch 'em all!

More About Liam Hetherington

I travel because...
I'm a nerd. A history nerd at that. Understanding how and why we fit into the world is an itch I have to scratch.
See: https://igougo.com/travel_blog/post-p182-5_Questions_for_Liam_Hetherington.html
I love to travel to...
Prague, St. Petersburg, Riga, Morocco, Peru, Istanbul, pretty much any desert you can think of.
I never forget to pack...
My travel diary and camera.
My weirdest travel habit is...
trying to visit all the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. All 890 of them (as of 2009). Still, at last count I'm 12% of the way there...
It's my dream to travel to...
Laos and Cambodia, the Yucatan, Mali, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Buenos Aires, Iran, Orkney, the Pantanal... anywhere I've not yet been in fact!
When I'm not traveling...
I am heavily into amateur dramatics, and tend to do two or three plays a year. I also sing with a swing band called 'Rat Pack Revival'.
