You must visit Chards winery just out of town - the world's best chardonnay (if you agree, send me a bottle - you can send me one even if you don’t agree).
You must do the four-wheel-drive tour out to the old gold fields - a bit scary, but amazing (say hi to Barry, the local fire chief). You will pan for gold and will usually get some.
Arrowtown is another must, and of course, there is Milford Sound (take the small red boat, as it gets closer to the seals and other highlights of this cruise).
Take the combined jet boat, helicopter, and gondola ride for the experience of a lifetime.
