Description: Best Things Nearby:
Much has been written elsewhere about this wonderfully popular resort area. Being hot (32+ degrees Celsius), we retreated to the glacier at the top (22 degrees Celsius) using a multi-visit pass to play in the snow. We also swam in local lakes, which we found very pleasantly refreshing.
Best Things About the Resort:
The units are very large and have been recently renovated internally. Ours contained both a sauna and an eight-person spa. Whiski Jack at Whistler Creek gives you the feel of an earlier, more natural Whislter, before all of the development and town centre. The units are exceptionally clean and well stocked with heaps of towels and other necessary supplies. Local calls are free. The Whiski Jack staff were very helpful.
Resort Experience:
The Whiski Jack at Whistler Creek timeshare units are located throughout a series of condominium blocks in an elevated natural treed area of Whistler Creek. It is one of the earlier developments, with most of the units individually owned (not a hotel complex). Our unit spanned three levels. The bottom level contained our own "private health spa," the middle level with the main living areas with a fireplace and balcony, and the top level with two large bedrooms and the second bathroom. Although the unit’s exterior was rustic in appearance, the interior was contemporary. Unfortunately, the windows lacked suitable curtains to manage the 4am or late-night sun. At 9:30pm, our 2-year-old daughter repeatedly requested "lights out please." The weather was extremely hot during our stay. A fan was provided in the absence of air conditioning.
During our stay, we experienced considerable noise from the valley below resulting from a major project development. Construction workers began at first light and ended at darkness (10pm). Freight trains also came through the valley during the night, something most people in Whistler would notice. We noted in the guest book that winter visitors found the unit to be cold - probably the result of all the large windows and no curtains. Firewood supplied generously at no cost. A central pay laundry was available within the complex.
If staying anywhere in Whistler, it is very important that your parking permit is taped to the windshield and remains clearly visible at all times. We copped a $50 fine when the permit fell to the floor after closing the door. The resort staff were very helpful in lodging a successful appeal of the fine.
