The beach is located nearby and is a private beach where you can actually have a very peaceful visit without the crowd fighting for space. The beach is a protected area for Sea Turtles.
I recommend Silverleaf Seaside Resort for the family that like the private gathering with a major metropolitan area just a few miles away. Galveston is vastly becoming a recognized resort area as the travel industry is building more. The #1 water park in the world is building a theme park. Schlitterbahn Water park will open its doors in Galveston next spring.
The two bedroom units are in good shape. Very spacious and large kitchen. All Units are elevated due to beach area. Not a good resort for anyone that is handicapped. But overall the resort is a very relaxing place for a nice getaway. Silverleaf's Seaside Resort is located on picturesque Galveston Island.
Galveston is a great spot to visit and we will return to Silverleaf Seaside Resort very soon.

The resort however needs to do a lot in the way of amenities and activities. The pool is okay, but they don't have a fitness center and the activities include shuffleboard and games in the main center (yawn). No group fishing trips (although I'm sure they'll give you a number of some local charters), no booze cruises, and no snorkeling. The restaurants are a bit of distance away (closer to Galveston and the nearest and best grocery store is a Wal-Mart in Galveston about 15 miles away, and a Kroger not too far past the Wal-Mart).
Overall, it was a nice, quiet week of timesharing on the beach. We went in late April and the weather was great, not too hot and the water temps were in the 70s.
I'd recommend it if you're looking to relax and spend some time on the beach. If your looking for your day to be filled with resort sponsored activities, then look elsewhere.
