Resort Experience:
The Hilton Grand Vacations resort has fashioned itself after a Bermuda Village, and has named each of its "residence" buildings appropriately. Our two-bedroom unit was on the sixth floor of Paget House. All of the two-bedroom units here are actually made up of two separate, adjoining units - a one-bedroom with king bed, full kitchen and living room, and a studio unit with one double bed, pull out couch, and mini-kitchen. Both units have "lanai-style" screened balconies, overlooking one of the pool areas.
The combined unit was clean and comfortable, and more than adequate for our family of four. The kitchen was well appointed (but bring your own coffee filters!). The master bath included the toilet and shower in one room, and a HUGE bathtub surrounded by mirrors, actually part of the master bedroom (honeymooners, take note).
The large pool in our building area was nice, though NOT heated as reported by the reception desk, and the hot tub was also decidedly cold. We preferred the multi-pool complex at the registration and activity center, which also included an excellent "deli" (groceries, wine and tastings, sundries, and Starbucks coffee), a poolside bar and grill), fitness and activities centers, playground and other activities (ping-pong, pool table, etc.).
Each day we received a recorded call telling us of the day's activities at the resort. Unfortunately, by the middle of the week the calls were coming in at the END of the day, so if we were waiting for that info (we weren't) we would have missed it by the time the calls came. Additionally, since we were actually in two units with two separate phone extensions, we had to wade through two long (and late) messages on voicemail to clear the system. An annoyance.
They had activities for various age groups, including young children and "teens only." They have a movie theatre that seats about 50 with scheduled movies throughout the week. You can also rent the whole thing for just $20 (great idea for a large family).
Although very comfortable and well-kept, we found the residential buildings a little too densely packed, and parking lots dominated the environment (and still it was hard to find a spot coming home in the evening). The location was great for Sea World (literally across the street), and good for Universal and Disney. We enjoyed it, but it still does not compare with Orange Lake Country Club.
Our one real problem was that they had us down as checking out a day earlier than we were (although all of the paperwork we saw was correct). Housekeeping walked in on us without knocking, and our room keys were deactivated without our knowledge. It took a few hours out of our last day to straighten it all out.
