Description: The Crowne Plaza Ravinia is always popular with business travelers and large family groups. My husband has stayed here before and has always been pleased with the service. I, too, found the staff to be extremely helpful and considerate.
When you enter the lobby, you'll feel as if you've wandered into a kind of tropical retreat. Lush foilage, a black olive tree and an Australia tree fern are all growing near bubbling fountains. Children will delight at the orange fish swimming in the pools of water. A Japanese walking garden is located behind the building. Note the statue you'll find there paying homage to the fact that the 1996 Olympic torch was at the Crowne Plaza on July 18th when the Summer Games were held in Georgia!
So what's so great about the hotel?
The rooms are upscale and spacious, full of little luxury touches. For instance, each room offers guests a small bag of gifts meant to make their stay more comfortable. There's lavender room spray to perpetuate a relaxing atmosphere as well as a soothing instrumental CD meant to soothe the spirit and induce sleep. For a truly peaceful night, stay in a "Quite Zone" room on the 12th floor.
I also had the chance to peek into a suite, and I was duly impressed. While the kitchen did not have dishes, and you have to request for the minibar to be stocked, the rooms here were HUGE. There was a full dining room table, a giant master bedroom with sitting area, a master bathroom with separate tub and shower, a second powder room, and a comfy den! Very nice. The decor? All tans and neutrals. Some red accents. Tasteful botanical prints. Traditional window treatments.
Other features worthy of note?
In addition to the hotel's Bistro Fifty Five restaurant, you'll find La Grotta, a five star fine dining restaurant, on the property. It's noted as one of the best Italian restaurants in all of Atlanta.... Then there's the full fitness center, the indoor pool, the outdoor Jacuzzi, the club floor, and... the list goes on.
This is an excellent hotel.
Traveler's Tip:
If you're flying into Atlanta, and you don't want to rent a car, you can take a shuttle to the Crowne Plaza for around $25-$30. Once at the hotel, there's free shuttle service within a 3 mile radius. The Perimeter Mall is practically across the street. If you drive a car, there's a large parking deck right behind the hotel that offers either valet or self-parking.
