I was last at the Montalembert in 1995. The hotel offers two styles of room decor - a hip "neoclassical" style and a more tradional "antique" style. We had an "antique" room, which was decorated with (what else) antiques, including a large bed with carved wooden headboard, an armchair and a large armoire fitted with a safe. The marble bathroom had all new chrome fixtures and its walls were covered with mirrors, but it was impossibly small. The room itself was comfortable, but small. We had a tiny balcony that overlooked the street had afforded lovely views of the Paris rooftops.
The room was just fine, however, we paid almost $400 per night, and I remember thinking "this is a $400 room?" when I first walked in.
The Montalembert is a lovely hotel. If you don''t mind the room rate, I am sure you will be very happy with the excellent staff and comfortable (albeit small) rooms.
