Ali Sadr Caves is set of caves and mountain paths with waterfalls around them near Hamadan. It's famous because of two tablets with scripts written in the ancient Persian alphabet left by king Xerxes and his son (as I remember, but maybe I made a mistake). We visited it in the evening, what is not the best time to do so, because it's oriented to the east and behind this place there are hills so it's quite dark in the evening. Still it was worth it to visit it. Not only because of those sights there, but for the atmosphere the place has. In the heart of the desert lies a waterfall. I was excited when I saw it. Nice calm atmosphere lies all around you and I would fall asleep if my friend wouldn't distur...Read More

Maybe you don't know that guy called Ali Abu Sinna. In Europe and the western world he's known as Avicenna. Do you know him? He's the founder of modern medicine. The tomb in Hamadan, the city where he was born and where he's buried, is quite a nice building. It has pyramidal shape and you can admire sunbeams playing between columns of the tomb. It is a city with great atmosphere.

The price for locals was 5.000 IRR, which is about 60 cents. For foreigners it's about 15.000 IRR (2 USD), so it's better to find some local who will carry you with him and who buys you a ticket for those 5.000 IRR.

Ice Cream

Story/Tip

Quote:
Near Ali Sadr Caves you can meet many people selling ice creams. You'll say: 'Hmmm... that's quite usual.' Yes it is, but I never ate ice-cream like I ate there. Iranians there were saying that it is with something called 'cardamon,' still I do not know what it is. It was like small strips of something what tasted very sweet. After that experience, I never found ice cream like that in Iran (and I tried to). It was really delicious.
