    Other than enjoying wildlife a lot, scenic drives, and driving, coming to Jalpan could be an historical journey: the missions of Fray Junípero Serra (one of which is here in Jalpan de Serra and the reason of being named so) are a trip worth all the driving through curvy roads.     The rooms are decorated with rustic furniture, but this is only part of the ambiance. In the new area the air conditioned and king-size beds will let you sleep as a king. The pool is small but it is always a pleasure to take a dip at night after touring. It''s also nice to try to get a suntan in the day.

    Attraction | "Military Macaws' Refuge"

    The deepest dip in the world (at least that is what the documental video in Animal Planet said) is home to one of the biggest and last flocks of military macaws. This is itself the main event of the hike. Groups have to be small and avoid unnecesary noise and you have to make the proper reservations and go throught an estrict screening.

    The macaws escaped from a huge fire just after Gilbert, the hurricane hit their previous home near Monterrey, NL, and adopted this for their new home. It is a paradise, especially for bird watchers.
