Quote: A trip of a lifetime. Every year we go to Caanan Valley, WV to ski. We have told our girls, now 14 and 12, that when they were good enough we would go out West. Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee, Yellowstone; do I need to say more?

I read several journals about Jackson Hole and found that the advice was both sound and helpful. If you ski, two things you need to know: 1. Grand Targhee is worth the trip!! and 2. All the ski journals on other ski websites may scare the average West Coast skier, but don't be scared off. The mountain is HUGE, but if you can ski an East Coast Blue, then there is more than enough mountain here to keep you busy! Sure, there is some extreme steeps and deeps, but I got through most of the mountian just fine. Targee is best for the people who want a family place with no lines, plenty of long greens, and most of all, more powder than you can believe. We had 45 inches in two days. WOW!Quick Tip...Read More

Best Things Nearby:One block from downtown. Next door to a ski rental shop. Many places to eat within two block. Bus stop one block south and one block north. Best Things About the Resort:Being one block from the center square, you don't need a car. The bus will take you anywhere you want and in the winter, the bus is free. We never needed a car the entire week.Resort Experience:I posted a picture with my journal, but it is a two-bedroom unit with a pull-out. One room has a private bath, the other bath is off the kitchen. Both have full bathrooms though. It was a nice, clean, two-story condo. If you have a choice, take the upstairs rooms. What a great place. The view was breathtaking. You have to ski at least one day at Targhee. It was awesome and a better resort for the kids. BUT don't let the hype scare you away from the HOLE. I am an East Coast skier and had heard how hard this mountain was. If you can ski a blue in any East Coast resort, then there is more than enough terrain to keep you busy. Sure there are some areas only idiots go, but I could ski most of the mountain with no problems. Great lifts, no lines, no crowds. It was so big that I never felt crowded. You spend more time skiing and less time in line.

Jackson Hole Snowmobile Tours picked us up at our condo, fed us one of the best hearty breakfasts you could ever ask for, geared us up with all we needed, hooked us up with a great guide who was also a great person, transported us to Yellowstone, put us on new snowmobiles, and then took us on a tour of Yellowstone. They fed us lunch in a warming hut (the lunch was a beef stew in a bread bowl with tablecloths and all the trimmings. I cannot describe the view, so take a look at the pictures.
