A September 2001 trip to Montreal by wendyt_ca

Quote: Montreal is a great place to visit if you like that big city atmosphere without going to an overly large city like New York. The people are friendly and you'll always find something to do in Montreal.

    Overview

There were so many things to see and do, but my favorite thing was when I saw Backstreet Boys live at the Molson Centre, which was my reason for going in the first place. There is always great concerts or events going on at the Molson Centre, which is home of the Montreal Canadians if you're into hockey. I loved the shopping. If you like malls then this is the place to go, not only do you have all the amazing shops above ground, there's also the underground pedestrian network, which is wonderful. The best mall to go to if you love shopping is the Eaton Centre located on St Catherine St by McGill St. Planet Hollywood on St Catherine St is a great tourist attraction as well as a great ...Read More

    Restaurant

Planet Hollywood was a very fun place to eat. It is a casual restaurant with something for everyone like fries, hamburgers, slices of pizza, etc. We had a slice of pizza, which was very good. The food was a little expensive, so if you are on a tight budget, I wouldn't go here -- the average cost here is about $10 a person. It is a tourist attraction that is well-known all over the world. There is entertainment there, including a TV screen, celebrity handprints and pictures, etc. There is a great gift shop located downstairs with great prices. It was my favorite restaurant in Montreal.

    Eaton Centre

    Attraction

The Eaton Centre is most likely the best shopping centre in downtown Montreal; it is close to almost everything. This is a very large mall, so you will not be able to do all of your shopping in an hour; we took an entire afternoon for that. There are some great stores in the Eaton Centre; it definitely has something for everybody. We really enjoyed the variety this mall had. There were many clothing stores there, including a five-story GAP and there were also some great places to purchase souvenirs; they even had a Ferrari store, which my boyfriend loved, but it was a little expensive.
