I have found that the best way to travel locally is by train. It has its limits but the nice thing about the train is that you can slow down and enjoy the scenery more than traveling in a plane and you save yourself the trouble and costs of driving around. I tell people who come to visit California—I’m from California—that they really should plan a trip on the train. Amtrak California travels to some of the most desirable destinations in the United States while passengers can sit back and watch some of the most beautiful scenery on the way. I agree traveling by train is a great way to go. Keep in mind though if you are traveling north/south in California that more than likely part of your trip will also be on a bus.
