We went there at around dinner time which for buffets should have fresh cooked food. However the food was dry and tasteless. I wouldn't recommend this place at all!! not returning.

Food and staff are excellent!

I visit the Magic Wok frequently and always find the food to be excellent. The staff are friendly and courteous. This combination makes for a delightful dining experience and one that I would recommend to anyone,

Having grown up eating PEI egg rolls, I find that no other egg rolls taste right.

We got to the buffet around 6:15pm and the place was just about full. We took the last large table in the corner. Normally we arrive around 5pm when things are just getting started, so this was unusual to us.

The group was my mother, my mother-in-law, the 8 year old, the 3 year old, the baby and me. We all had the buffet which cost $11 for adults, $5.50 for the 8 year old, and $2 for the 3 year old, and free for the baby.

We immediately asked for a bowl of steamed rice for the baby which arrived quickly, and we all had water to drink. The waitress filled all the glasses and asked if we would like a pitcher of water for the table.

The buffet was yummy as always. It includes a good mix of "Chinese" and Canadian dishes. There is a salad bar which has typical salad veggies, a few mixed salads (potato salad and macaroni salad), and jell-o for dessert.

The main buffet has wonton soup, egg rolls, fried wontons, chicken fried rice, lemon chicken, sweet & sour chicken balls, lo mein, almond guy ding, beef & broccoli, honey garlic spare ribs and a few other Canadian-Chinese dishes. It also includes french fries, garlic bread, onion rings, sweet & sour meatballs, and steamed mussels, a local favourite.

The kids were both very brave and tried new things, including the mussels (sort of like clams only bigger and with black shells) dipped in melted butter.

The restaurant was a bit noisy and crowded because of the time we were there (peak hours on a Friday night), but the food was all quite good. The egg rolls could have been hotter, but I find that I eat most of my food cold, thanks to the baby needing to eat at the same time I do. Oh well.

Our server was friendly and cleared away used plates fairly regularly. We had enough room on the table because we were at a round table for 6. Otherwise it would have been a bit awkward. The biggest problem was trying to find a route from our corner table to the buffet without banging into someone.

At the end of the meal, we all received fortune cookies, which is the real reason we go out for Chinese anyway.

If you go, try to go about 5:05pm. You are there before the crowd and everything is nice and hot coming from the kitchen.
