Description: Think ‘50s diner gone funky. The walls are decorated with memorabilia; signs like "Elvis Presley Boulevard" and "Marilyn Monroe Place" compete with posters of James Dean and a neon Budweiser guitar. The centerpiece of the décor is the beautiful vintage jukebox. The chairs are chrome and the covers are vinyl in fifties aqua. It’s all just too cute.
What was exciting was to find a restaurant that caters to the Atkins diet at breakfast. Not just eggs and bacon but also low-carb toast. That was a first for us. You have your choice of the "Light", which is two eggs, two pieces of bacon, two pieces of ham and one accompaniment, all for $6.99. The "Hearty" is three eggs, three bacon and ham slices with two accompaniments, all for $9.99. The accompaniments include fresh fruit, sliced tomatoes, and low-carb toast. Al was a good boy and had the hearty, and it was cooked to perfection. The breakfast cook really knows his way around an egg.
Although I should have been good, I wasn’t. I had "Hot off the Grill." For $7.99, you get to choose any four from the buttermilk pancakes, Belgian waffles, and French toast. They are served with butter and real maple syrup. You can see what I picked in the photo. What really impressed me was that they will make the French toast out of whichever bread you choose, wheat, rye, or white, as I have never been offered that option before. There is no way I even ate half of my order, but it was so delicious. Add cup after cup of fresh, piping hot coffee, and you have a breakfast made in heaven.
We were the first customers in at 8am, and, naturally, we had fabulous service, but even after the restaurant began to fill, we never were neglected. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Eating here was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend a visit.
Looking at the variety of beers and burgers served here later in the day made us regret that we probably wouldn’t be able to return. The no. 1 bus goes right by the restaurant.
