Description: This is a quick visit but Betsy Ross's house is a wonderful window into life of colonial America. The house shows where Betsy Ross lived and allegedly created the American Flag. The rooms are very small as are the hallways and staircases.
Children should enjoy seeing how families had to cook with open fires as well as learn about the role Betsy Ross played in the American Revolution.
There is a lovely courtyard outside that is perfect for a picnic near the fountain. Throughout the day performers appear in period costumes.
Betsy Ross's house is a quick walk from the Franklin Mint and you will pass the graveyard where Ben Franklin is buried. Don't forget to toss a penny on Ben's grave for luck. (Last year the city of Philadelphia collected over $5,000 in change that was donated to city charities.)
