It is called the Siegfried and Roy’s secret garden and dolphin Habitat after Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn both of German origin. They both had a permanent stage show at the Mirage hotel that used White tigers and other wild animals in the magic show. However following an incident where one of the tigers bit Roy the show was discontinued. What appears to have happened Roy had lost his footing and the tiger is believed to have thought he had fallen and was hurt did what it would do to one of its cubs and bit him around the neck to try and drag him off stage to safety. However of course by biting his neck the skin is not thick and covered by fur and he bit through his neck. Roy suffered some quite serious injuried including having a stroke and the show was discontinued.

During their time at the Mirage which they were incidentally paid $57 million dollars a year they formed the Dolphin habitat and the secret garden where lots of wild cats are cared for. This is not just a zoo but more a conservation project. They have some very rare animals including white tigers and lions, pumas, panthers and leopards. They are housed in caged enclosures which have plenty of room and made to look a little like their normal habitat. They appear to be very well cared for.

The dolphinarium is spectacular and you can see pods of bottlenose dolphins swimming and high diving out of the water. There is an underground walkway where you can see the antics of the dolphins below ground and underneath the water.

If you are feeling flush there are packages where you can become a trainer for the day. This is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination coming in at $550 for the day but you do get up close to the dolphins and swim with them you are also given breakfast and lunch and some photos of your experience. You can also have someone come as an observer to watch and video and the price for this is $150 and this includes breakfast and lunch.

Prices are fairly reasonable with admission prices at $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for children. I think that it is a well worth experience due to the conservation elements of the garden and dolphinarium.
