My friend and I were picked up from our hotel in the afternoon by a spacious GMC Yukon. Our charming safari guide, Mubbashir (nicknamed Muby) entertained us with Dubai facts and trivia while we listened to Abba on the way to the desert, about 45 minutes away. Once we reached the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, Mubbashir deflated the tires while we took beautiful panoramic pictures of the desert. We then buckled in for our dune bashing! Mubbashir was a fantastic guide, talking and joking with us while driving over the dunes with skill and what seemed like years of experience.
We were five in the car and the family of three sharing the car with us were loving it as well. Their 5 year old was shrieking with delight at each turn. After a fun roller coaster ride over the dunes we made a picture stop and had some soft drinks. More dune bashing ensued and then we stopped at a camel farm where we were able to pet them and I got a great picture holding a baby camel. 20 minutes later we stopped on the dunes to watch the most beautiful sunset. As darkness fell, we were taken to a Bedouin's Arabian camp where all of the staff were so friendly and helpful... offering camel rides, Arabic coffee and dates, drinks from the bar (wines, beers, and soft drinks) and guiding us to our low style Bedouin table. After delicious Arabic starters and BBQ, we were treated to a talented belly dancing show.
The night ended with all the lights being turned off and we were able to do some stargazing... it was stunning! After such an action packed trip, we were further entertained by the disco music that Mubbashir played on the way back into the city. After he dropped us at our hotel, we decided to go on the Riddle of the Sands tour that Arabian Adventures also offers. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dubai to make their trip complete! And request the safari guide, Mubbashir to make it even better!
