Description: An area rich in rock formations of rare beauty, highlighting, as a curiosity, the "cabeca do jacare" (alligator's head). The place was so named because in the summer a large number of swallows migrate to the region. The water, limpid and crystal clear, flows between rocks which were slowly eroded throughout the years to become a formation which is similar to a cave. Due to the continual erosion, natural pools were created - perfect for a bath for those who are disposed to submitting themselves to generally low temperatures.
Access by car can be achieved by leaving Tiradentes Square by Conselheiro Quintiliano Street (exit for Mariana). On passing the Lajes district, take the first street on the left, Rua 15 de Agosto. The final stretch is a dirt road. For access by foot also leave from Tiradentes Square. Next to the School of Mines, take the Rua Henri Gorceix (also known as Rua Nova). Breathe deeply and brave a long ladder to the Mount of St. Sebastian. On the way do not forget to stop on the "Mirante" to catch a beautiful broad view of the city. From St. Sebastian Mount to the waterfall, the road is easy.
