Description: Hussong's Cantina was opened in 1892 by a German immigrant. It has, in the past one hundred years, been the center of town and largely responsible for the amazing growth of this once remote Baja outpost. The "bar that built a town" is busy for most of the day and night as far as I can tell, with a fair mix of locals and gringo tourists looking to guzzle a few Mexican beers and experience the frontier qulaity of this lively relic from the past. Live mariachi music is performed regularly, and everyone seems open to lively conversation. Best to keep your eyes and ears open, however, as many of the drinkers appeared to be eager for an old-fashioned "confrontation." Sometimes authenticity can be a little unnerving.
