Our room was of the same quality that you would find at most major hotel chains (e.g. Comfort Inn). The room was full of bright pink and aqua and had a very clearly defined seashore theme. The nice part about staying at the shore in the winter is that you are not fighting with other guests over who gets the ocean view rooms. The front desk was certain to place us on the fourth floor, guaranteeing a breathtaking view of the calmly crashing waves. Two comfy chairs placed strategically in front of the large sliding glass doors ensured a delightful afternoon of reading. I am certain that in the summer the balcony makes for an even nicer reading spot.

Bathroom:
The bathroom seemed to be nicer than the room itself. It was covered almost exclusively in granite. There was a small alcove outside of the main bathroom, which included a sink, coffeemaker, and a small refrigerator to ensure that your boardwalk fudge always remains cold. The towels were big and fluffy, and they supplied more than enough. The shower was roomy and the water pressure was excellent.

Extras:

I must admit that I took almost all the little shampoos and soaps. They appeared to be of really good quality, and I can always use some extra hand soaps. There was a continental breakfast in the morning, which was not very impressive. There was a small assortment of mini cereal boxes, bananas, and bagels. There was tea, orange juice, and coffee. For as much as this hotel screams “we are fancy,” it seemed like they could have mustered up a little more. The pool area seemed nice, although being winter, it was closed. It does lack a hot tub, and with the ocean merely a few steps away, it almost seems redundant.

Overall, it was a nice stay, made nicer by the fact that it was paid for by a free gift certificate. It is not worth the price tag ($250 to $365 per night in the summer) at all. Even the winter rate of $108 a night seemed expensive for what you actually get. If you are considering spending some time at the New Jersey Shore, I would look elsewhere for accommodations. If you are a family, it would be more beneficial just to rent a house or condo. If you are a group of young people looking just to have some fun, there are plenty of cheap hotels you can stay at. The location on the beach is nice, but the Port-O-Call in Ocean City is not worth the price. Close
