Boy do I regret thinking Sandals Grande Antigua was ...Read more After spending the year building our house and planning a wedding, we wanted to go on a trip that required very little planning and knew could be counted on by reputation to ensure a great time. Boy do I regret thinking Sandals Grande Antigua was the right place to go! After entering the country and obtaining our bags, we proceeded outside to a much unorganized staff that was point and yelling at you to get into taxis and taking your luggage from you. As any seasoned traveler would know this is hardly a great idea, so we chose to wait until we could get an accurate explanation of what we were doing, who was taking us and exactly where we were going. We were put into a filthy van with a scary driver as he took off down the streets at a very fast pace with blaring music. Hardly the way to start a "relaxing" vacation! Once we arrived at the hotel, it was all about getting our credit cards out as fast as possible, never mind getting the luggage unloaded and to the proper spot. We had upgrade to a suite and purchased the "honeymoon" package, which was supposed to include special turn down services and champagne. Neither happened. Our room was very old with evident rust stains; an a/c unit that was ran by a remote control and leaked. The bathroom had a tiny shower, one sink, a toilet that ran all day and night (even though we had it "fixed" 3 times in our 6 day stay) and bathroom blinds that never shut. While we were there we were very careful to place out items into our safe and check on them daily. While at dinner ( late one) our room was broken into and our safe was opened and things taken out. They robber kindly refreshed out towels however! When we called management for this, they promised to investigate . Since they have logs of who entered the room and when, the investigation should have been fairly easy. Once they narrowed down the housekeeping person, she did not recall taking the items and thus they took her word and did nothing further to rectify the situation. A HUGE disappointment as one of the items was a bracelet from my new husband that I had received on my wedding day. We would highly recommend NOT going to this location or any Sandals resort for that matter. The customer service and employees attitudes in general are sub-par. Who wants to go on a vacation and be constantly looking over your shoulder!? . Close
