Description: The Westin Bayshore Resort and Marina has an enviable location along the shores of the legendary Coal Harbour and the famous Vancouver seawall. It has fabulous views of the harbor, mountains, bay, marina, and 'Canada Place'. It is the only luxury resort hotel in downtown Vancouver, next to the sprawling Stanley Park and a short walk to Vancouver’s world-class entertainment and Robson Street. It is impressive, elegant and luxurious with AAA 4 diamond(s). Mobil 4 star(s). Star Rating 4 star(s). The hotel has two buildings, the newer tower building offers 20 floors of extraordinary views, the older main building renovated in 2000 remains quaint and houses the Starwood Preferred Guest floor.
The lobby was massive with rich earth tone colors, adorned with local artworks, sitting areas with comfortable couches in front of a large fireplace, shiny marble floor, floor to ceiling windows looking beyond onto the magnificent view. We were welcomed with accommodating staff suitably garbed with attitude. Although we confirmed a harbor view, we were given a room facing the gray stucco wall of the hotels convention center. A firm request for a change resulted in an apology and a spectacular view of the marina and the harbor, for the price they charge, insist on it.
Our room featured a double sliding glass door leading to a small balcony. The bed was extremely comfortable featuring "Heavenly Beds" with 'down' luxury beddings and linens- no need to request for more pillows, we had a total of 12 with 2 boudoir pillows. There was a well supplied mini bar, bath with dual shower heads, 27" TV, Starbucks coffee, various teas, and in-room movies, sitting chairs and French style desk with available high-speed internet access ($14.95 CAD/day). The bathroom was stacked with nice thick towels and white bathrobes. There was iron and ironing board for your wrinkled linen shirts and pants. Still, the best part of the accommodation was waking up to the view of the marina, of boats, seaplanes, cruise ships leaving the harbor. No need to venture away if you decide on a guided tour of Burrard inlet, the hotel provides day cruises as well directly from their own marina. Any complains? Loud sea planes leaving the harbor at 7:00am.
The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, workout center, sauna, steam room, and spa. These areas were well kept and attended. It has two restaurants, the waterfront "SeaWall Bar and Bistro" for lunch and dinner and "Currants at Bayshore" for a great breakfast buffet ($22.50CAD/person adults, $9.00/child). Shopping was available at several boutiques at the lobby. Overnight valet parking was $18.50CAD/day. The day we drove up as well as the next three days of our stay, luxury cars such as Ferraris and the very high end Benzes have the front seat parking by the hotel entrance.
