Before I got the voucher I'd never even heard of the place, but a little bit of research (what did we do before the internet?!) told me that it was a Mediterranean influenced restaurant with a menu that looked quite appealing and interesting.

The restaurant is not very big, so it is probably worth booking beforehand at busy times. We went fairly early on a Wednesday evening and had no problem getting a table. There is outside seating in the cute little courtyard outside on nice days but we opted to sit upstairs which was lovely and retro with a comfortable feel and atmospheric lighting that would make it nice for a romantic meal I imagine.

We were welcomed with a genuine smile by the staff and walked past the open plan kitchen on our way to the dining area. I always think an open plan kitchen instills a little more confidence in you as a diner because it sows the restaurant has confidence in themselves and tends to offer a higher standard, which we got here.

The menu is heavily influenced by Greek, Lebanese and Turkish food and the selection is very healthy although tempting, which we loved. Normally I wouldn't go for this kind of food, but I was excited to try something new and I wasn't let down. For starter we went for the house special Mezze salad which includes lots of different items. You can go for a large or regular and we decided to share a large but the waiter advised us to go for the regular as we were ordering large main courses, which was nice of him. There was baba ganoush, coleslaw, stuffed vine leaves, hummous, falafel and olives amongst other things and the waiter was happy to explain everything to use. The food was delicious and tasted really fresh and was a great way to start our meal. For main course we both went for one of their specialty home made burgers which are all named after songs! I had the 'Smoke on the Water' which was a beef burger topped with bacon, lettuce, cajun sauce and hot cheddar. It was homemade, cooked to perfection and served with delicious homemade chips (although you could swap this for a mezze salad or a jacket potato). My husband had a chicken fillet burger which had a huge lightly battered chicken fillet on it and was topped with cajun sauce and cheese. The only thing we weren't convinced by was the fact that the burgers were served on brown bread rolls which didn't quite work. I'd have preferred to have had the choice of white really.

There isn't a dessert menu but the waiter gave us the specials of the day which included a fruit topped baklava, an Eton Mess and a banana split. We went for the Eton Mess and it took a few minutes to arrive but was well worth the wait as it was a generous sized portion and it was delicious - more than enough for two of us to share!

The total cost (including three beers and two apple juices) was £41 (before taking our half price voucher into account) which I thought was more than reasonable for what we got. Overall I'd definitely recommend the restaurant either for a light lunch or an intimate evening meal because the food, atmosphere and service is all very very good. Close
