On my last holiday in Cyprus my husband and myself ate out a few times. We were staying at a hotel on an all-inclusive basis but we both feel that it’s only right to spend some money in holiday resorts if you are able, to help to keep restaurants, bars and shops running. One of the places we ate lunch at was a restaurant called ‘Tea for Two.’
We had arrived at the harbour of Paphos by a taxi speed boat which we boarded near to our hotel on Poseidon Avenue. Once at the harbour we visited the castle, a craft fair and then popped into a few shops until we thought it must be time for us lunch.
My husband said that he fancied battered ‘proper’ fish and chips and by this he meant as close as possible to what we would be able to get in England. He kept on about this until I too fancied fish and chips.
We looked around a bit but were getting hot as well as hungry and so when I saw Tea for Two, which is located on a corner of Poseidonos Street and the sea front, I suggested we choose to eat here.
We were seated at a table on the covered area which had a view of the road and sea.
Tea for Two is a restaurant/snack bar, is aimed at the English market with its menu of English type meals and snacks although the customers seemed to be made up of several nationalities. We don’t normally choose to eat in British type restaurants when abroad but on this occasion it seemed a good choice with hubby wanting traditional fish and chips.
The menu was very extensive and offered fish and chips, pie and chips, jacket potatoes with various fillings, beef burgers, toasted sandwiches and so on…
I ordered a fresh orange juice and my husband chose a large bottle of Carlsberg lager. We perused the menu while we quenched our thirsts.
On a nearby table a family asked could their young son have an egg sandwich. Once he had eaten most of this the waitress awarded him with a balloon.
Of course we both chose the fish and chips and this soon was served to us. It was a good portion of fish with home-made chips, garden peas (tinned) and generous wedges of fresh lemon along with tartar sauce. The meal was steaming and looked good.
My husband enjoyed his but I wondered if he was just saying this as he had kept going on about fish and chips. I was disappointed and thought the fish and the peas were dry.
The meal came to €25.70. This was for two fresh orange juices which cost €2.85 each, one pint of Carlsberg lager at €3.30, two fish and chip meals at €8.35 each.
I intended to use the Ladies before we left but was told that a mother was changing her baby in there and so I decided to wait until we got back to our hotel.
Tea for Two also offers a take away service.
