Keep Austin Weird

If you are lucky enough to be going to Austin Texas I can strongly recommend the Austin Motel for some local charm and character. Situated in the heart of Austin's South Congress it boasts great access to all the wonders the city has to offer. South Congress itself is in my opinion the best street in Austin so you are right in the heart of the action. A stones throw from the motel is The Continental Club which is one of Austin's premier music venues and in my view the best. Also within a short walk are the great thrift stores that you could get lost in for hours and great restaurants.

The rooms themselves are characterful and charming but very basic and often small but come at great value from $80 upwards per night. The great advantage is that they are cheap and in a great area and the place has a fun community feel to it. I would suggest that it's great for solo travellers or those looking for a great authentic experience.

You will also be amazed by the sign... look it up on their website. It's a hoot!
