The hotel was nice enough. It's a Best Western hotel, and the Best Western chain has a better reputation in Europe than here in the US. It was clean and comfortable enough. The decor was old Venetian, of course, and very cute. We enjoyed the convenient location, only about a block (I think the web site said 50 meters) from Piazza San Marco. The service was very friendly and helpful. The concierge arranged for us to tour the glass factory on San Murano. He also helped me send a package home (since I couldn't fit all my purchases in my luggage). While in Italy, we always shared a bottle of wine with dinner. Sometimes this made us very thirsty throughout the night. Our first night in Venice, my roommate and I were both extremely dehydrated. So she went down to the desk in the middle of the night to ask for a bottle of water. After that, the concierge always had two bottles of water waiting for us when we got back for the night, which we appreciated. This was the only hotel we stayed in that didn't serve complimentary breakfast. The restaurant located next door was only open for lunch and dinner. It wasn't our favorite place to eat, but there were plenty of other choices nearby, some of which we found to be very good. While touring Venice, I decided the next time I visit (which I hope is soon), I want to splurge and stay in the Danielli. But if you aren't looking for luxury, this hotel was very nice.
