We took this trip as an anniversary celebration and getaway from the day to day life with children. We were extremely impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their ability/willingess to speak usually clear English. Most of the food was pretty good. There was always something we were willing to eat on the buffet. We preferred the Iguana Snack Shack for lunch over the buffet resturant. The reservation only Paradiso Cafe was great for dinner. We enjoyed sitting on the porch of the buffet restaurant for breakfast....gorgeous view. The hotel offered a free anniversary package and we did not receive all elements of that, but we weren't too concerned about it....they just missed the details (only got the fruit...no wine or turn down service.) The worst part was that the room stank of a horrible musty/mildew smell and was damp (an element of the area's humid environment). I even washed clothes I didn't wear when we got home b/c the smell was in them. We had a beautiful view from our room and loved watching the cruise ships come in and out. The room below us was one with a hot tub and we could see anything happening in the hot tub---definitely no privacy for them, but no bother for us. Looks like all the hot tub rooms had an audience above them. We did not swim in the ocean because the water was nasty. The first 50 yards of the water was brown with algae/seaweed and definitely not inviting. It wasn't the crystal blue Caribbean Sea you expect to see. Didn't stop us from relaxing in one of their many beach chairs with a book from their free library. Clear snorkeling water was just down the beach. We took a Jeep Tour....very enjoyable! We were able to book it with Olympus Tours right there inside the hotel.
