I have heard much about Fontenac, so we were excited to book it for our last night in Quebec. We had enbarked on a 5 night trip on the Route of Flavors. We highly recommend this vacation trip to Quebec. On our first night in Quebec, we had stayed at the Hotel Queen Victoria, a few blocks away, and we felt that the Fontenac compared unfavorably to the Queen Victoria. The staff at the Fontenac was overwhelmed by visitors, the lobby had all the warmth and charm of an airport terminal, with the same vibe: disatisfied guests trying to get somewhere or something. We don't regret having stayed, since it has so much history. and now we can say we did. It's an excellent location, and like I said, great history, but for my money I would stay at the Queen Victoria.
