Great affordable choice for our family

Our family has stayed at the Plaza San Carlos a couple of times, and are planning on going back. Apparently you have the choice of staying at the renovated rooms, or the ones that need renovation. We happened to stay at the same room in both ocassions, which needs renovation, because we could not ignore the great price offered. Yes, the carpet and furniture look old, but the mattress/pillows were fine and the room was clean, spacious and with a large balcony . Yes, by the bathroom sink there was a faucet labeled "purified water" that did not operate, but again, even if it did, I wouldn't recommend drinking from it. When we asked for extra towels, extra pillows, extra chairs for the balcony and a dark curtain that was missing in the room, they were prompt in attending our requests. The entire setting is excellent if you're traveling with children: the pools, the jacuzzi, the water sport rentals, the big sand dunes, the long walks along the beach, other children to play with. Their price included their excellent Mexican breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and juices. I had a facial in their spa and it was well done. Just note that they have a ballroom, so parties and conferences may be happening while you're staying there. Try to avoid staying when they're having Sweet 16 or graduation events, or just bring good earplugs. Young people rent out most of the rooms and it does get loud. Also, during the morning of your last day, you will receive the bill in your room, with very tempting discount offers if you decide to stay a bit longer... so keep that in mind if you think you'd like to stay one, two, three, four or more days!
